Free Domains

Have you ever used a free domain for your project? And if so, do you think it ever impacted on the number of visitors your site got?

I have used .tk domains before but that was a very, very long time ago when I was quite young.

I've also used free domains and free web hosting services when I started learning web development years ago. They are useful when you're new and learning, but not so great for real web projects. These days I would never use them.

I don't know how much a free domain name impacts your SEO though, but I would love to hear more on that from someone with knowledge on the topic.

Free means someone else registers the domain you want in their name in order to sell it to you if change host. No free rides anywhere.

Back in the day I used .tk and .sytes.org or something alike. Don't really remember. It's a bad idea to use a free domain though. It only takes about 10USD, so might as well invest in your branding.

Ive come with free domains and later learnt they are not useful for permanent so left all those domains and blogspot too. Godaddy and other registrars also offer free or $1 domains for startup business so use this offer for simple projects.
