  1. Hello and welcome to the community! 🙂

  2. Guilded is a new chat service that has forums built into it on top of calendars, RSVP features, as well as subs that works like patreon whilst taking significantly less than what patreon takes (5% - 12% from patreon, and only 2.5% from guilded). On top of that you get your own vanity URL as well as can build SEO around your vanity url. For the price of 100% free and the capabilities to instantly make money from it, what do you think the likeliness of people starting to merge over to Guilded instead of making forums and blogs would be? FYI, I'm not a dev or in no way promoting Guild
  3. I always go with paid if I have the option too. Especially when it comes to forums, in order to compete in a market that's already dying it's easier to start off with a paid resource over everything else!
  4. Having a simple domain I believe matters, or a domain that makes sense. But as the extension matters it does not. I had the largest website for it's genre at the time and it was a .co (I later bought the .com of it for $300 but ended up letting it expire after a year when I realized no one still used it and instead used the .co more) it really all relates to SEO and simplicity.
